I ate at Tubby's tonight in Aggieville, and I liked it. Sitting with j.shay at a card table on the dance floor (normally covered in sweaty 21st birthday pub crawl residue) was the most enjoyable bar food experience I've had in recent memory. The atmosphere was a sports bar, but no stench of bleach and spilled beer could be found. I dreamed of what it would be like to sit above the bar in the loft seating with candle lit dinner sipping martinis to dance beats.
We were treated with great service, great jams on the speakers, and I got full and tipsy for under $10.
Needless to say, i have every intention of coming back and trying more menu items (guacamole burger!) and super cheap drink specials
Menu:
Dirty Martini - $3 (j.shay) gin soaked olives kick ass
CranCosmo - $3 (libs) simple and sweet
Spicy Fries - $2.25 - (Tasted like thick cut fries cooked in curly fry seasoning, the dip is what really did me in)
Soft taco - .75
Hard taco - $1.00
Double decker taco - $1.25 ( hard taco wrapped in queso and a soft shell deluxe)
Gin and Tonic - $1
Grand Total : $8.38 each

J.Shay's Pizza Diary
I work at AJ's NY Pizzeria, and subsequently eat at least 3 slices of pizza a week. I seriously love pizza so much.
Also, I'm way into experimenting with toppings and eating outside the box. My friend Ashley used to call it "mixing," basically taking foods that 'shouldn't go together' and putting them together. Cream cheese + Goldfish crackers = yum; pickles + potato chips + sharp cheddar = mini sandwich.
Anyway, I often apply this rule to pizza. Here is a slice I made the other day that was so delicious:
-BBQ sauce + ranch (baked on)
-Beef
-Blue cheese crumbles
-Tomato + red onion (so yummeh)
-Light sprinkling of mozzarella
-Generous sprinkling of bacon bits
It was inspired by a hamburger I ate long ago which had all of these same things, save the marinara, mozz, and tomatoes. Black and Blue Barbie-Q is a good name for it.
Delicious. Get it next time you are at AJ's.
I'll start bringing my camera to work so I can take pictures of these delicious creations.
Truly,
J.Shay
